Our University reopened Monday, against the wishes of faculty, students staff and residents of the communities surrounding campus.
Campus and off-campus case counts are climbing.
How did it come to this?
TAUP members have spoken, unequivocally opposing the decision to open with face-to-face classes, aside from those required by law. And, we have yet to hear a single defensible reason for this decision to put lives at risk. The administration’s go-to explanation is that our students want in-person classes. But the Temple Student Government came out in support of going fully online.
We watched as Temple refused to listen to and protect teachers like Abby Jones:
And turned a blind eye to the risks posed to the communities of North Philadelphia.
Our work together continues.
Be safe and stay healthy.
