Greetings to everyone returning to teach! The Adjunct Constituency Council (ACC) of TAUP has compiled a list of timely reminders and information for the start of your semester!
Parking Permits
Adjuncts are eligible for free parking at Temple lots on days that you are required to be on campus. Make sure you fill out the online parking form as part of the HR Onboarding process – check your inbox for an email titled “Action Needed: Temple University Initial Onboarding Tasks” for the link. You can also find details on our Adjunct FAQ page
Health Insurance- Sign Up Before the End of the Month!
Adjuncts who are eligible for the TAUP bargaining unit can sign up for health insurance with a subsidy from Temple. Click here to confirm your eligibility, then go here for benefit information and for the application links.
Course Cancellation Fees
If you have a course cancelled within 7 days of the start of the semester through the end of the drop/add period, you are eligible to receive a payment of 4% of what you would have been paid for the semester. Be sure to contact us if this applies to you.
Unemployment Compensation if You are Making Less this Term than Last
Whether your course was cancelled recently or not, if you are not teaching as many credits this term as you were in the Fall, you may be eligible to apply for Unemployment Compensation, even if you have other income. Contact us if you have questions about your eligibility or would like support in filing for Unemployment.
Appointment Letters & SFFs
Always be sure to download, print out and file away your Appointment Letters every semester.
Be sure that you are receiving at least the $1500 minimum per credit rate TAUP negotiated for adjuncts. It’s also wise to download your Student Feedback Forms (SFFs) for future reference. If you stop working for the University for one year, you will no longer have ready access to these documents.

How Do We Improve Working Conditions for Adjuncts?
So glad you asked! Adjuncts have been in TAUP since November of 2015. Since then we’ve negotiated two contracts which have increased the minimum adjunct pay rate, made health benefits accessible, standardized criteria for each rank, made multi-semester appointments possible, made it possible for adjuncts to file grievances and more. We continue to fight for adjunct rights and greater job stability. The single most important thing you can do to support this work is to become a member of the union. Our power comes from working in solidarity, and our membership numbers matter. If you’re not a member yet, please join. Feel free to email taupaft@gmail.com to set up a short meeting if you’d like more information. In addition to your membership, if there are issues that you would like to be involved in with the union, reach out to learn how we can make further progress.
