We are all contending with different levels of uncertainty at this moment.
Imagine being a student who is already living on the edge. Suddenly you need to find a way to travel across the country to get back home. With uncertainty about food plans at this point, will you have access to food? What if you get sick and are unable to work and provide for yourself? What if your employer has to shut down and can’t pay you?
TAUP has been administering the FASTfund, founded by Temple College of Education’s Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab, since the end of 2018. Every week students walk into the union office to apply for emergency funding which helps them pay a bill, purchase books or shop for food, allowing them to continue their studies.
With the COVID-19 outbreak, we ask you to consider donating to The Student Relief Fund, a collaboration by Believe in Students, Edquity, and the Rise Education Fund to support students affected by COVID-19-related campus shutdowns.
“Believe in Students, established in 2016, has a long track record of successfully distributing emergency aid. In the case of the COVID19 fund, we will distribute the funds via our two partner programs: the FAST Fund, which has 18 sites around the nation, and Edquity. Edquity is currently serving students across Dallas, and will soon have additional sites operating in major cities.”
Please donate here. They are currently raising the funds to receive a $5000 matching donation. With your support now, your donation will double in value when those funds are raised.
Please share with colleagues, staff and administrators who may be interested in supporting students at this difficult moment.
