On Thursday, members of the TAUP table team met with members of the administration’s team and a mediator from the PA Bureau of Mediation. In discussion, there was mutual recognition that both parties have made an effort to attain an early settlement, but the amount of work needed to adequately address the many issues on the table will require more time than can be fit within an early deadline.
The mediator has asked for both parties to take time to compile any additional proposals we intend to put on the table for consideration that go beyond the limited scope of topics initially agreed to for early settlement. At the next negotiation session, each party will begin presenting these additional proposals with the understanding that the parties always reserve the right to add or modify proposals during the course of negotiations.
We are are aiming to resume negotiations before the end of July, and look forward to productive discussions. We will announce the upcoming dates as soon as they are confirmed.
